Athens From The Rooftops
It was either Emily or Jessica who said it yesterday.
"Athens is prettier from the birds eye view"
We had several of them yesterday, from the bar on the rooftop of our hotel and at dinner where we got to watch the moon rise over the hill and then settle over a lit up Acropolis. That was some show to watch while eating dinner of fish, fish, and more fish.
Today we hike up to the 'the sacred rock"

Definitely the best part of my summer was dining at a restaurant on the boardwalk surrounding the Parthenon, with a bird's eye view of the Acropolis.
Unfortunately, the rest of the city is kind of lacking, considering all the history you find there. The old district is charming, but the new city is just like any other urban area. Plus it's damned hot right now.

Fred - Glad to hear you rested up a bit. Sounds like the crud didn't last long. The pic you posted above is a beautiful rooftop setting. My day job co is hosting a conference in Athens in November. Hope you'll give us the low down on what you do (and don't) recommend - hotels, restaurants, bars. Would be particularly helpful.
PS - Your new Voki avatar is the best I've seen to date.

May I recommend a short but sweet soundtrack to your stargazing ritual tonight? The new Sky Observer's Guide found on forkliftentertainment.com is the perfect way to end a day on the run...
All five songs are free to stream and download, so don't be shy. Enjoy!
