July 5th is Unlocked iDay
Tomorrow is iDay, in case you didn't know. People will be lined up around the block at the Apple stores here in NYC to get their hands on an iPhone. I am not even sure I'll get one, but if I do, it will be unlocked. I don't care about visual voicemail. I've already got one better with Simulsays Beta (still buggy) running on my Blackberry.
What does interest me is an iPod with a killer browser. And I'll run it on whatever carrier I want to run it on, which in my case is T-Mobile. Here's what I need.
Here's a couple places you can get unlocked iPhones on the web:
Apple iPhone iPod Unlocked GSM Phone - Popular Electronics
Buy Apple iPhone Black Unlocked GSM Cellular Phone, Apple Cell Phones
And here is where you'll soon be able to get a software unlock.

i live in dominican republic and whe dont have AT&T and this is what the distribuitors of mac down there posted on a group they have in a page that is similar to myspace, whe only got 2 based GSM carriers, Orange that is from france, and Claro, that used to be verizon, but Claro that is a GSM carrier in south america has it now, so that means it can be unlocked.
Hey!
If you are in Santo Domingo and your iPhone is locked, come to Mac Center at Roberto Pastoriza #110 and we will activate it for you for free within a couple of minutes!
Today we got another shipment of 4GB iPhones and waiting for the 8GB to be here next Monday.
It's incredible, but you actually can buy it in Mac Center Santo Domingo, while 99% of Apple Stores in the US are sold out.
And you don't have to pay double or triple price like they sell it on the eBay. Price is reasonable, and the most important thing - it's here!

I'm so sick of the non-competitive wireless market. For crying out loud, no one locks their land phones, why do manufacturers agree to this crap with wireless?
The one thing that definitely keeps me away from iphone is the ridiculous plan pricing. 59.99 for the cheapest plan? Are you kidding me?
