Now That's A Surprise
The NY Post is reporting that Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo! for $50bn.
This map explains why. They want to consolidate the icy north. They might as well pickup AOL why they are at it.
Tickers: MSFT YHOO

You should check this post from apophenia... it's an allegory for main internet companies. They are turned into real countries.
MSFT = Germany
YHOO = Japan (MITI !)
GOOG = USA
-- and from the comments --
SUN = France
Apple = Netherlands
CSCO = Russia
--> It's fun / Creative and made you think. I love mapping and assonances.
The all story here :

Yahoo! dropped hints of this deal in a February Time article: http://breakoutperformance.blogspot.com/2007/05/foreshadowing-microsoft-and-yahoo-deal.html

Sun is so totally France LOL... always going on about their language and culture... after seminal contributions to the Internet and mankind, hopelessly locked in a futile struggle against irrelevance.

I see the Gulf of YouTube but where is the Ruler (aka google)? Do they encompass the entire other hemisphere? good times!

Yahoo will get buried in Microsoft's bureaucracy the same way their search, msn, live groups all are hidden within the behemoth.
I wish the two would just form a third company and sell their search assets to that third company and go after Goog, which needs some good competition.
Then Yahoo can just be a media company and MS can just be a software company and they can both stop losing to Google.
