I Predict A Riot
Well actually I don't think it's gonna be a riot, but I couldn't help myself from using the title of a cool Kaiser Chiefs song.
KAISER CHIEFS - I Predict A Riot
Tonight (7pm) at PS 41, which is at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 11th Street in Greenwich Village, there will be a public hearing on the Pier 40 mess. If you live in the village, or care about the quality of families' lives in NYC, I hope you'll be there. I will.

I've been on 10th & Hudson for over ten years now. I love this neighborhood, but hate what it's becoming. This project evokes the memory of the Robert Moses highway projects. I can only hope that there's still enough character, enough fortitude here to stop this...

It is going to be chaotic, thanks to the efforts of all those, yourself included, Fred, who helped get the word out.
I just hope everyone will be able to deal with the confusion of fitting a large number of people - parents and kids - into a facility that is not going to be big enough to fit them, less than perfect sound equipment, etc. Let's hope that we can all see it as an example of democracy in the tradition of the Town Meeting, an opportunity for people to express themselves and to come together, an expression of community strength and pride and a fun, educational event, as well.
