Twitter In The Times

The Times is trying to make sense out of Twitter.

So am I. But it's been such a nice weekend that I've not had the chance to post.

This is the first thing I've seen from Twitter that I thought was useful.

Although it could get expensive if you don't have unlimited texting.

First, I can see a lot of potential for Twitter to be an extension of Outside.in leveraging the twittermap function.

Second, as a marketer, here's a project that shows some really interesting promise around aggregating the current voice of the internet:

Finally, Umair at BubbleGen noted a while ago that MySpace smartly lead the charge of infusing marketing messages with the service for more genuine engagement (v. push advertising). On that same note, I find it interesting that so many blogs/podcasts as brands (TechCrunch, TWiT) are participating in Twitter so quickly.

Fred, just found the Twitter+Music killer app:

It's a lil' browser extension that let's you post what you're listening to on iTunes to twitter. 1-click.

This actually caused me to sign up for twitter...

The Last.fm scrobbler doesn't really do it for me for some reason.

I have a friend who states that Twittering is simply blogging for folks with Attention Deficit Disorder.

I view it a lot like snacking before dinner. I'd much rather sit down to a nice meal than chomp on snacks all day. It ruins my appetite.

I'm not sure I'd bother with the story.

Finally some news to validate the predictions of so many level headed people (and by so many I mean a preposterous few).

Twitter is a feature - not a business. Show me their barrier. It is not technology, and it is not community. Ergo - what is it?

Twitter is nothing special, other than bloggers apparently thinking it's the coolest thing since... blogs?

Facebook has the same features as Twitter, and much more. Plus I don't have to sign up for yet ANOTHER "web 2.0" service with a stupid name.
