Kings Of Leon Obsession
It happens to me between a half dozen and a dozen times a year. I get a record and can't stop listening. I don't even have this record yet. I ordered it on Amazon earlier this week. But I've been listening non-stop on Yottamusic. Check out my last.fm recent listens and you can see the obsession.
My buddies Tony Alva and Jackson and bloggers like Bob Lefsetz have almost convinced me that rock is dead. But then bands like Kings Of Leon and Arctic Monkeys come along and I just can't agree.
Rock On.

Put the Hold Steady in there, Fred. I can't stop listening to "Boys and Girls in America."

Couldn't agree more. I've been a huge fan of the Kings since Youth & Young Manhood. I've got tickets to the June 5th show in NYC, but it looks like I'm moving that day. Guess I'll be living out of boxes for a little while longer.
I think the best compliment I can give the band is that they make me want to buy a Sonos.

eddie - hope your acoustic experience is somewhat better than what we had at the manchester apollo last week - rather spolit the show; the roseland's a cool venue, so fingers crossed.
also, would be interested to learn if they do more than a 60minute set(!).
enjoy!

Thanks for the recommendation -- I love it. I headed over to Yottamusic to play it, and keep getting a 'skip ahead bug' that I've had for weeks with them, but my desire to hear the entire album motivated me to finally file the bug (I figured earlier that I'd give it some time to be resolved on its own pace...)
Again, thanks!

Great stuff Fred, and rock and roll will never die!

Bob Lefsetz is quite possibly the biggest idiot blogging about music on the planet - and that's a planet with a lot of people writing dumb stuff about music. It's your own fault if you listen to someone who hasn't bought a new record since 1974.

"I think the best compliment I can give the band is that they make me want to buy a Sonos."
What?
Rock is dead, they should have made him want to buy a guitar.
At least the Kings have a drummer.
Honestly, I like this, but it lacks what Wilco lacks, hooks. Where's the hook?
Oh yeah, and try to seperate me from Lefsetz, I don't much care for the smell.
Rock can't die as long as it's in our hearts, but lately, that's the only lace I can seem to find it other than my vinyl collection

I can't believe what I am reading. "Rock is Dead" That is darn near blasphemy. I know those were not the words of Fred.

Fred KoL was amazing at Coahella! You would have loved it. I haven't been able to get On Call out of my head since.

They have a good sound and I keep thinking of Big Head Todd and the Monsters when I listen.

Just saw Kings of Leon live last weekend and they rocked. We took some videos and put them on our blog here:
