New Wilco - Oh Yeah

2007 just gets better and better. We started with The Shins and Of Montreal's wonderful records. Then we got new stuff from Arcade Fire, Sondre Lerche, and Modest Mouse. And now we've got new Wilco.

The record is going to be called  Sky Blue Sky and songs for the record have begun to show up on the web this week. Based on what I've heard, I'd say its a return to the songwriting of A.M. and Being There with the addition of some amazing solos by Nels Cline. That's just fine with me.

The best place to hear the new songs is the Hype Machine. The ones I've heard so far are:

Walken - Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
You Are My Face - Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
Either Way - Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
What Light - Wilco - Live @ Pines Theater (Sky Blue Sky?)

don't forget about the new bright eyes and white stripes. heard cuts from both, and they are amazing!

Damn - I thought 'Walken' might be a song about the finest actor of the modern age....oh well......

Ok, I talked some smack on your praise of new Bloc Party and The Shins earlier this year, so it's only fair that I give props on the Wilco call -- cannot wait for this new album, from what I've heard online and live in person, I'm pretty sure it's going to be epic.

Oh, and for the record -- after additional repeat listens, both Bloc Party and The Shins have grown on me. The Shins more than Bloc Party (I think my expectations must have just been way too high for Kele & Co., since Silent Alarm is way up my All-Time Best list, and played a key role in my soon-to-be wife and I's relationship).

Now if I can just get my hands on early White Stripes and new Radiohead.

There's also leaked tracks from Feist's new album 'The Reminder' out there.

I'm on Wilco's e-mail list and they just sent something out today saying they're streaming the whole album tonight on their site, starting at 10 PM central at http://www.wilcoworld.net/sbs

I can't believe you left The Decemberists off of this list! They have quickly become my favorite band with their new album, The Crane Wife. Amazing. Thanks for the heads up on the new Wilco tracks.

* Luv Wilco .... too much great new stuff to digest this 1Q07!
* I'm still not understanding people who say there is no good new music. They're just not trying!
