The Wii Rocks
Josh has been after us to get a Wii in our house. We thought about it for his birthday but couldn't find it in stock anywhere, so we went in another direction.
We got to The Ghetto Ranch, my friend Mark's place in Aspen, late Friday night and the first thing Josh sees is an unopened Wii. He begged me to open it. We held off until we got Mark's permission. Which came yesterday morning.
So we set it up in the home theater in the basement and Josh was boxing in front of the drop down screen within minutes. It was a breeze to set up and works great.
And the thing about the Wii that is so amazing is the aerobic workout you get when you play with it, particularly boxing and tennis. You sweat when you play this thing.
So we are going to get rid of the Xbox360 or the Playstation2 and get a Wii. A game console that gets you off the couch and working out rocks!

Thought you would like this video if you liked the Wii. It is the Wii Fight CLub!!!

Fred,
I've been trying for months to get a WII and finally resigned to getting one on eBay. Since they are becoming mroe available, the prices have dropped. I only ended up paying $29.00 more than if I got it at the store.
The kids have been begging since the holidays. I'd much rather see them jumping around the basement with this thing, then sitting on the couch only exercising their thumbs.

a year or so ago we donated (to a worthy cause) our various playstation devices, etc; turning 46 last year i felt i was getting a tad too middle-aged for such gaming frippery (i felt increasingly uneasy watching lara croft's breasts) - however, the more i see of the wii device, the more i am tempted to dismiss such self-imposed age'ist paranoia.
is lara croft on wii yet? if so, oh dear.

I knew this product was a homerun when I overheard that some of the guys at the office - late 20's - were having a Saturday night "Wii Party". And they said their dates were as excited about the party as they were. Now that is what I call viral marketing!

I heard someone in the store remark - " I don't think I've even seen the demand for a holiday gift go this far into the following year."
He's right. People still are lining up (and sleeping overnight) to get their hands on one.
the wii got "it" right.
It' just pretty cool system for young and old, tech and non-tech, male or female. I'l ll play the wii with my wife and our friends if people stop by. And it's not like you're stuck for 1hr playing. The default games are short. Which makes it more acceptable, to me, cuz I don't want to be inside all day playing games.
I sweated playing boxing too. And the first time you have to swing to hit the tennis ball or baseball and you connect and the controller kinda shakes along with the impact - it's just freaking cool.

I missed out on the whole video game thing - I was too busy living, and consequently never developed the 'game thumb'. I just can't devote that much time to convincing my hands to learn how to do it - 7th chords are hard enough, but if this thing evens the playing feild......

As a longtime gamer, I still crave the unique mental gymnastics provided by my PS2. Man cannot live on Wii alone.

We have one of these in the office, and its a great lunchtime activity. Its so simple its genius. The president of the firm is even hooked, particularly on tennis.
I wonder about the games for this though? Has anyone purchased Madden for this?

@Paul
I got the madden it is fun, however the best part of the game is not functional yet. playing online with college buddies across the country would be my favorite but it is not yet possible. I am hoping when they set it up they will place in a patch so that I can play using the current madden instead of buying a new one.
But its really fun just takes some getting used to.

I almost resigned last December but then... a friend told me about NintendoFinder.com and got my Wii three days before Christmas. Anyway, everyone's a Pro in the house now... me in Tennis.
What I am more interested is when EA Games would start producing other games like baseball, NBA Live...
If installing a Wii is a breeze... so is connecting it to the Internet. Very easy... I now check weather forecast and news through the Wii.
Lastly... I am trying to see if this would also work for me: http://wiinintendo.net/2007/01/15/wii-sports-experiment-results/
