Jets In The Postseason!
We got the news from Jackson via a text message as we were out celebrating the new year on the streets of rome
The Jets made the playoffs in Mangini's first year with a solid 10 and 6 record
It's true that the Jets had a very easy schedule, but I don't care. We made the post season!
It is already proving to be a happy new year.

The Giants are in, too! All they had to do was win, have Atlanta lose, have Chicago lose by more than 15 points, have Gerald Ford die, sacrifice two fatted calves, deflower a virgin, speak in tongues, count backwards from 326, hop on one foot while rubbing their tummies, and win a round of Let's Make a Deal. Weird how the NFL playoff system works, but somehow, this all happened!

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
It's going to be a good week next week - I'm a Jets fan, but my dad is a Giants fan. Hopefully they can both pull it off. (I was at the NYG/NO two weeks ago, and I tell you, the Giants sure as hell don't look like a playoff team. That was a disaster).
And hey, easy schedule or not, they won the games they were supposed to win, which is no small achievement in the NFL. Miami beat the Bears, Green Bay beat the Bears, Detroit beat Dallas. We had a legitimate chance to beat the Bears and Indy... the only bad loss coming to Jax, which I'll write off as a bounce back game for them after the tough loss to Washington. And best of all, we beat the Pats in Foxboro.
With Mangini, I see the Jets as the Pats-lite this year. No real "superstars", but a lot of heart and they always find ways to win. With Herm, they were finding ways not to lose. With Mangini, they're finding ways to win.
I LOVE Schottenheimer's play calling. No Marty Ball there. A double reverse on the opening play? Brad smith motions to under center and runs a sneak? Then they do the same thing and he instead runs a route...

It's playoffs, we got Tom Brady on our side. That is all I have to say.

I think the Jets face their hardest games of the year in the playoffs. The battles that you will see for this and the next week will be comparable to feather and welter weight boxers; they will be poking and prodding the strategies of other teams looking for any sort of weakness to quickly capitalize before the other team adjusts.
It has been an interesting year considering where Martin was this year and if he still may retire. Added to the fact the challenges of managing a team under a new coach who is a contemporary of many of his players. But there is still a long way to go and to be honest, the biggest game of the season is next week against a great team who are disciplined and ready to send the Jets home.
Let's all talk a week from today and see where the Jets end up.

"With Herm, they were finding ways not to lose. With Mangini, they're finding ways to win."
"It's playoffs, we got Tom Brady on our side. That is all I have to say." - That's about all you can say. It's over for the Pats, just like the GOP.

If Rodney Harrison plays the Pats will handle the Jets. When the Jets beat the Pats, Rodney had just gotten injured the week before, the secondary was a mess. The Jets barely won. Even if Harrison misses this game, the Pats secondary has adjusted and become quite effective even without him.
If Watson and Wilfork play as well, it won't even be close.

Erik, all indications are that Watson and Wilfork both will be back. Harrison will be out for 2-3 weeks, so he is done unless the Patriots go all the way.
I agree with your point about the secondary adjusting while Harrison was out. Guys like Sanders and Scott are playing much better of late.
