Being A Conversational Blogger
Kent Newsome said in a post on his blog recently that I wasn’t a particulary “conversational blogger.” I think what he means is that I don’t participate very much in the comments. That’s true.
As I’ve said in the past, it’s largely because of the way I blog. I post in the early morning most of the time. Then I go to work and spend my day in meetings. Then I come home, have dinner with the kids, hang out with the family, do the dishes, and I’ll get to my email in the evening. By then, the conversation has happened and I missed it.
But not really. Because as many people who comment on this blog can attest, I respond to many of the comments with a private email from my blackberry.
I’d love to copy Typepad on these emails so they can be posted as comments from me on my blog and be available to everyone. I’ve asked them to offer that feature. But I don’t think it’s a priority because not many people apparently need it. I get that.
So I’ll keep doing it this way. Because I appreciate every comment I get and would like to have a conversation as much as is possible. So keep the comments coming.

Fred,
I like the way you blog, because it seems like a real stream of consciousness, an awareness of things around you and their impact upon you.
It's like chruch, the parishoners don't have a conversation with the priest about the liturgy. The liturgy is suppose to help them reflect about the people and things in their own lives, to promote self awareness, which is then supposed to lead to some revelation.
Now, I'm not saying that your posts lead to revelations, but they do help in creating awareness which is a good thing.
Even though I read your blog to learn more about VC, I really like your comments about music. In fact, I have rarely bought into or used any of the websites (startups) that you talk about on this blog, but I have checked out and BOUGHT into some of the muscians you have talked about, such as ben kweller and the decemberists. I like that and it keeps me coming back.
The only downside to your blog is that it is starting to look a lot like a waiter at TGIFs who has too much of "flare" on his vest. It's beginning to look a little "over the top". Still it is a fun place to start my day. And on some days, I find the pony. :)
P.S. I have an answer to the question "Who is going to be the next Dell of the ISP world?" It's coming in a email.

Fred,
I don't really surf the web via phone much (okay, at all) but I would think that if you have full access to the web, you could visit your blog and leave a comment directly on the blog. That would probably work better on the FastAVC blog.
