Mobile checkout
So I am buying a second battery for my macbook at the apple store in soho just now
The salesmen sees the line is kinda long
He grabs this mobile device, scans the bar code, swipes my credit card, asks me for my email address, puts the battery in a bag and sends me on my way
It took all of a minute and I got my reciept by email before I walked out the door
That rocks

Even better... if you've purchased via their Website, they can 'remember you' via the CC number and email you the receipt instead of printing it.
It's so cool.
(Too bad I'm having so many problems with my new mac right now!)

They are number 1 at retail in the US as I preach. Amazing for such a new retailer and really not doing anything that other retailers couldnt

That is cool. For all the increasing IT tech deployed at point of sale, it blows my mind that receipts are an acceptable standard anymore and why there is no leverage created by this onerous process.
Interesting that they needed your CC card at all. Just an email address should do, just like website purchase.
WiFi POS is great for closed campus deployment. Connecting to the payment network via mobile would enable a new class of merchant.
