M Ward on Letterman Last Thursday Night
I love M Ward and this song, Chinese Translation, is one of the many great tunes on his new record, Post-War, which comes out next week. You can pre-order it on Amazon and you should absolutely do that.
How about that guy sitting on the bass drum playing the cool looking cymbal? I love stuff like that!
My friend Raj sent me this email last week:
Heads up: M.Ward is on Letterman on Aug. 24. Tivo or just wait for YouTube.
I thought about taping the show, but figured it would eventually show up on YouTube and thanks to Calvin, it did. To my mind, YouTube is better than Tivo because it's easier to share the stuff I love on YouTube.

Proof that it all works (Blogs, YouTube,etc..) as I had never heard of them before. Hooked by the video I checked out some more on iTunes and now just bought the album.
Thanks for sharing it.

That is so cool. I got here through Seth Godin's discussion of your review of online tools, but love discovering new music. Thanks.

M. Ward - band emblematic of the new millenium.
Who would have expected a female drummer in a band like that even 7 years ago?
Nice to see atypical drum set.
Looked like an Asian sitting on the bass drum, and lead singer looked non-white (with one white F drummer and white rhythm guitarist - possibly over 40).
Nice to see a multi-ethnic, M&F, diverse ages pursuit of good music.
Hopefully YouTube can make sure the folks at Letterman and in M Ward are fairly paid for what they provide, say a reasonable royalty based on number of viewers.

Interesting to see that the album was released on iTunes and vinyl on August 22nd, and the CD release doesn't occur until August 29th. Worked on me -- I bought the album as well. Thanks for the recommendation.
