Animal Collective - Thanks Andrew

B000amsro401_aa240_sclzzzzzzz_ He hasn't even started yet, but our new analyst Andrew Parker is proving to be a valuable resource already.

I was reading his blog the other day and came upon this post on Animal Collective.

I went to the Hype Machine and played a few songs. I recall hearing and liking their song Grass (which Andrew blogged about) on last.fm neighbor radio so I went to eMusic and downloaded the entire Feels record.

I've listened to it three or four times this weekend and it's terrific.

Can't wait for Hollinndagain which is coming out in late October.

If you like Feels, make sure you listen to their previous album, "Sung Tongs". Seriously.

saw this post in bloglines & thought "hey, I have to tell Fred to check out Sung Tongs, too!" now "check out Sung Tongs" has two data points- this is officially a trend worthy of the NYT Thursday Styles.

M. Ward - band emblematic of the new millenium.

Who would have expected a female drummer in a band like that even 7 years ago?

Nice to see an atypical drum set.

Looked like an Asian sitting on the bass drum, and lead singer looked non-white.

Nice to see a multi-ethnic, M&F pursuit of good music.

Hopefully YouTube can make sure the folks at Letterman and in M Ward are fairly paid for what they provide, say a reasonable royalty based on number of viewers.

Glad you enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing your iTunes share at work because your recommendations over the past year consistently reflect my tastes. The recent Tom Waits nugget made me load my copy on my ipod; great throwback.

Also, I owe you one because I learned about the Hype Machine from your blog, and now I'm hooked.
