MP3 of the Week
Golden Smog is a "supergroup" like The Travelling Willbury's and CSNY. Golden Smog is Gary Louris and Marc Perlman from The Jayhawks, Jeff Tweedy from Wilco, Dan Murphy from Soul Asylum, and Kraig Johnson.
They've got a new record out called Another Fine Day and they are doing a live show this wednesday night in NYC at The Bowery Ballroom. I saw them (minus Tweedy) at The Bowery Ballroom a couple summers ago and they were great. I am really looking forward to seeing them.
There are a ton of great songs on Another Fine Day but my personal favorite is called Frying Pan Eyes.

Got the Cd last week, been listening to it allot. With every listen, another song jumps out. This album has such a mix of styles and feeling to every song. I liked it with the first listen, and I like it more with every listen. Frying Pan Eyes is a great song, I hear the Jayhawks with this one, and you know how I feel about the Jayhawks. My personal favorite is Hurricane. It is a simple but fun song, could have been a Soul Asylum song, I hope they play it on Wednesday. I hope Jeff shows up, but it will be a good show if he doesn't.

I have no doubt that Golden Smog is super, and a group, and that they all have been in other bands, but the members of CSN and the Wilburys are household names - I doubt most people have ever heard of these guys.
Just sayin.
