Gone For Two Months
The kids are gone for the next two months at camp.
It's a summer ritual at this point in our family.
It's Jessica's eighth year, Emily's sixth, and Josh's third.
But the site of them walking through that door and up the stairs is always a little emotional, much less so now than in the early years.
It's a preview of college and beyond I am sure.
We'll miss them.

Mine are two and four, there are times Katy and I wish we could send them away to camp for two months.
But then when I'm on a business trip for a week, I miss them like mad.

This is the fifth year for my 13-year old son and the third year for my 10-year old daughter. It's hard every year, and this year was especially hard because they finished school on Thursday and left on Friday morning.
The toughest part is passing their empty rooms when we get home.
