No More Trackbacks
I've decided to turn trackbacks off on my blog for all new posts and moderate all trackbacks for old posts.
There are a couple reasons for this decision.
First, about 90% of all trackbacks I get are spam.
And second, most people don't trackback to me so I use Technorati, Google, and other blog search tools to track who is linking to me. I find this approach more useful than trackbacking anyway.
So if you are used to trackbacking to my posts, don't bother doing that anymore.

Fred,
I found trackback usefull as a reader of posts. They use to give me additional information or point of views. Obviosly when the trackbacks become source of SPAM, and with new tools like SphereIT the importance of trackback is reduced. It will be interesting, however, to check if the readers used the trackbacks for additional reading.

rogel,
If there are links to the post on technorati, they will show up in the flare that says "x links to this post on technorati" right at the bottom of the post, in the same place that the trackbacks were.

Good. I find that trackbacks just get in the way of the comments.

I would suggest adding Akismet to your site to remove all Spam (Trackback and Comment). Works great. Less filling.
