Indeed Job Data

Since I am not in the market for a job, I haven't been spending enough time on Indeed.

But since my post on their instant job board service, I have been playing around with the service this weekend.  And to my surprise and excitement, there is a bunch of real time jobs data that anyone can access for free up on the Indeed site.

Even cooler is the ability to chart the popularlity of specific job postings.  Let's say you are a DBMS specialist and want to know if your services are in growing demand.  Check out this chart.

But if you are an AJAX specialist, things are a bit different for you.

Just for fun, let's see what the demand for VC experience is.

Well I better get busy and learn some Ajax because clearly venture capital isn't a growth opportunity!

In all seriousness, jobs data is very important to business owners and operators, economists, politicians, and many others. Indeed is producing some really interesting stats and giving them away for free.  Cool.

Thanks for the tip on Indeed. I've been checking it out. Besides the cool stuff...it has great features that solve real problems. I just ran through a comparison between Indeed and SimplyHired. Indeed has a cleaner look and much better error correction than SimplyHired - which is still quite good as well. Both these product show there is a real place for Vertical search!

While it is true Indeed is produces interesting stats and gives them away for free they have also created a job search engine with far greater possibilities than the major job boards that currently exist.
This includes SimplyHired as well. The small business owner's across the nation can now use sites like TemporarEase and post any position for free. Free posting is not new but what has changed is Indeed, SimplyHired and others that have major traffic post those jobs onto their boards giving those jobs much more exposure than they would usually get. Our company has targeted small to midsize companies that may not have a large advertising budget for Monster and Hotjobs and they are getting responses from interested applicants that might never have seen these jobs without the free services being offered by TemporarEase, Indded and SimplyHired.
What this will do to pricing at the larger boards and traditional print classifieds remains to be seen, but for now small business seems to have very cheap and effective new way to advertise, hire and grow. As long as job posting remains free for all jobs and more people move to Vertical search then why pay yo post?
