Top 10 Records of 2005 - Honorable Mention
The surprise of the year was a comeback by Sinead O'Connor in the form of a rasta singer.
The record is called Throw Down Your Arms and it got me to go back and listen to Sinead's old records and there are some really good ones.
It also got me into Burning Spear, who I hadn't really appreciated before.
This record really never took off in our house, but I've listened to it probably 20 times and I haven't got tired of it yet.
Sinead's rendition of Curly Locks is so touching, it brings the good girl/bad boy story to life.
And the final four songs; Downpressor Man, Throw Down Your Arms, Untold Stories, and War are a fantastic stretch of music that as I write this makes me thing this record should have gotten into my top 10.

Hey Fred. I've been meaning to drop you a line about Matisyahu and whether or not you had heard any of his music yet. This reggae post pushed me to write so I hope that you'll check him out, if you haven't already. His single, "King Without A Crown," is now on the top 20 alternative download chart at iTunes and it's definitely a great song to start with. Try both the "Live at Stubb's" and studio versions. He's definitely tops my list for 2005.

I like the new Sinead. The Legal Diva got it, it's well done, and earnest, but at times it seems a bit forced, maybe I should listen to it some more.

You must have a heck of a top 10 for Sinead not to make it. I cannot stop listening to this album. Great in and of itself, plays to all her strengths, and also caused me to go back and explore all my old reggae discs. Nearly a perfect 10 in my book.
