Sweaty Blog

Lot's of people have told me I'd like Weezer.

But for some reason, I've never really gotten into them.

The family doesn't dig Weezer so that's a big strike against them.

But last week, a blogger named Sweaty Blog tagged two songs for me.

Perfect Situation by Weezer (off their new disc - Make Believe)

and

Kill by Jimmy Eat World

Of the two, I like the Weezer song better, but both of them are quite good.

So, I am now going to listen to the new Weezer album in Rhapsody sometime this week.

And I've added Sweaty Blog to my feed reader.

I love that fred'spodcast thing.

My advice: try Weezer's terrific "Pinkerton", a far better album then their others.

The Blue album is really good for first time Weezer listeners too. I actually am not a huge fan of the new album.

Check out 'Island In The Sun' from the Green record (Weezer), or 'Hash Pipe' from the same. Basically check out the Green record (Weezer).

The Blue Album is an iconic record. It is the one you need to come to terms with if you want to understand where Weezer stands in the alt.rock canon. People may argue that Pinkerton is a more mature and more challenging record, but the Blue Album is the one that is still going to be selling copies in 20 years.

Here's a guy who argues, on the album's 10 year anniversary, that Weezer was the most influential band of the last 10 years. His claims are overblown, but they contain a core of truth.

The record really is good. Almost every song is anthemic. Definitely in my top fifty.

"he Blue Album is the one that is still going to be selling copies in 20 years."

I couldn't agree more. That album is classic. It's already stood the test of time. I believe all the other albums pale in comparison.

Make Believe is a good album, but the Blue album is epic.
