Westerns

B0001gf2ds01lzzzzzzzIt's been a while since I watched a western movie.

But Josh decided he wanted to watch some so we ordered The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly on Netflix.

It's my all time favorite western so I figured we start with the best.

He really enjoyed it, so now we are into westerns.

This morning we watched Hang Em High which we also liked although the ending left us hanging.

B000059tfw01lzzzzzzz_1I have to make sure Josh doesn't think that Clint Eastwood had a monopoly on the western format.

So next up is The Magnificent Seven.

And we'll probably do some John Wayne after that.

But at some point, we'll have to go back and finish off Clint's spaghetti western trilogy.

You guys ought to check out "the Unforgiven". Very under rated classic. Real life lesson in being true to who you are. "...hell of a thing killing a man"

So many good ones still left. Just off the top of my head, My Darling Clementine, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Naked Spur, The Searchers, Stagecoach, Warlock, Shane, Go West ...

Not bad to be getting on with!

The Searchers
Tier 2 Greatest Westerns (no order):
-----------------------------------
Red River
Stagecoach
High Noon
Shane
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Lonesome Dove (TV miniseries - awesome!)
Outlaw Josey Wales

Tier 1 All Time Greatest Westerns (tie):
---------------------------------------
The Wild Bunch
Unforgiven

I'd like to second the nomination of "The Wild Bunch" as All Time Greatest Western.

Peckinpah actually turns in my favorite Western, and my favorite War Movie (Cross of Iron). Brilliant stuff.

I concur with The Unforgiven as a Clint Eastwood western classic. What a terrific movie.

After you check out The Magnificent Seven. maybe you might want to watch The Seven Samurai's, the greatest of all Kung Fu flicks and the movie that The Magnificent Seven was based upon.
