Sundance

Hpim1757_1 The Gotham Gal, Jessica, and I were invited by some friends to spend the weekend at Park City/Deer Valley during the Sundance Film Festival. So we took them up on the offer and headed out for a weekend of films and skiing.

When we got there, the weather was so spectacular that we opted to ski instead of sitting inside and watching movies.  I kept up on the festival by reading Jason Calcanis’ BloggingSundance. We did go downtown on Saturday afternoon but since we weren’t celebrities we couldn’t get into anything interesting. Park City became Hollywood this weekend.

Our friend Mindy has a movie called Junebug premiering tomorrow (Monday). It is supposed to be a good movie. I sure hope it is well received and she gets it sold. Other than that, I did not have much interest in the movies.

Hpim1743We did have a great time skiing though.  They have a ton of snow in Utah right now and we had two crystal clear blue sky days.

The bumps in Empire Bowl at the top of Deer Valley were deep and soft. The Gotham Gal and I had some real fun in them.

Jessica spent Saturday boarding at Park City with her friend Ben. The one thing about Deer Valley that sucks is that don’t allow boarders on the mountain. And my kids (and the Gotham Gal) prefer to board than ski.

Hpim1755 But Jessica and Ben skied with us on Sunday.  We had some fun in the terrain park where Jess got some serious air to her surprise.

I love skiing, the exhilaration of flying down the mountain, the spectacular views, and the fun of skiing with others makes for a great time.

I have lost my interest in movies as well that is why I have taken passion into videoblogging and have decided to come up with this small project... http://www.vlogfestival.com

I'd be with you on the slopes over hanging with the Hollywood types any day. I haven't been on the slopes since Boarding became acceptable, it's high time I got back out there.

I am so jealous. I almost never miss Sundance - used to live up there but I've gone back since. I was all prepared to go this year - my love of blogging temporarily usurped my love of independent film and I went to two back-to-back blogging conferences this week. Next year, the conference organizers will have to shift their schedules (or not) - I'm Sundance bound. While I appreciate Jason's coverage -reading about it on a blog just isn't the same thing.
