Open Source Ads?
Forgive me if I seem obsessed with the Architecture of Participation and Open Source right now, but its just a fascinating megatrend in our society.
Courtesy of Smart Mobs and Wired News, we now have open source advertising. Check out this cool home brewed ad for the iPod mini.

It will be interesting to see if the loss of brand control will be worth the extra word of mouth. This ad looks good but mediocre ads, or ads that conflict with the parent marketing message will probably not be acceptable. All it will take is a few cease and desist actions to put a damper on the whole field.

Someone should bring back Linkexchange. . . as a non-profit advertising network. The increasing relevance of "blogshpere" should make it more popular than ever

Other than VC's, clients or prospects looking for funding, I am willing to take the calculated bet your format and diverse content feeds a variety of viewers who thoroughly enjoy your blog? I wonder how best to serve your click throughs and wallet with an eye towards others you are educating and entertaining.
I wonder what most common search terms your counter shows "blog" combined with on the entry pages of those viewers? Does your counter deliver enough info to help determine demographics about the majority of those viewers? Will that aid in a connect-the-dot bigger picture view of that audience? Last, but not least, most writers consciously or unconsciously are writing with a specific reader in mind (Gotham Gal, a colleague?) when their fingers hit the keyboard.
What food for booleans might be included in the blog more often with that audience in mind? Would this serve up higher "nutritional" ads and click throughs?
You have me thinking; as always!
A Happy, healthy, holiday season and a prosperous New Year to you and your family. Journey safely.
