Jam Session

Hpim0687Josh and his buddies got together for a jam session today.

I got home in time to see the end of it.

They've got some work to do on their sound but being that they are eight years old, I think they've got plenty of time to do that.

But their rock n' roll attitude, well they've got that down.

Okay, let's just face it. Those rock 'n' roll jam session photos of 8-year-olds are seriously kickin'.

Josh is the drummer? And he likes rock and roll? Dying art. Jam on!

FWIW - Drummerworld is the best source of individual drummer info on the web if he needs an inspiration ... http://www.drummerworld.com/drummervideo.html

Never too early to encourage hearing protection for young people too. One of the influential drummers on me, Rod Morgenstein (Dixes Dreg and other bands, Berklee music instructor), had hearing loss early on, and he is a big proponent of protection ...

Another thing to consider down the road is electronic drum kits, but there are differences analogous to playing a piano versus a modern keyboard ...

This photo set, although just a small part of my day, absolutely made it. I mean, I hada great day and all, but this put it over the top. Too awesome for words.

Also, being a drummer, gotta agree with the hearing protection. I've still got a ringing in my right ear from the ride cymbal pinging away in it all those years -- and I haven't done any drumming to speak of without hearing protection in years.

I'm sorry, I have trouble hearing, what did you say....
Dying art? Says you....
As long as there are boys, there will be Rock!
