The F Word
I don't have the nicest of mouths but I've tried to clean up my act over the years, particularly around my kids.
I tend to agree with all of Jeff's posts arguing in favor of Stern and Carlin and everyone else who uses foul language on radio, TV, and other forms of media.
Today I read Jackson's post about Bloomberg and was cringing at his foul language. Jackson's dead right about the Ice Cream man and the barking dogs. But his liberal use of the F word did give me pause.
But then I read that our Vice President told Pat Leahy, the venerable Democratic senator from Vermont, to fuck off on the Senate floor.
I am not sure what to make of all the F words flying around. One thing is for sure. Guys like Dick Cheney have a double standard.

Sorry, but only that i made you cringe. I stand behing my vicious attck.

What no comment on John Kerry thowing the F-bomb around or flipping the bird off to a protestor in front of schoolkids?!
You, sir, are a hypocrite.

BushCheneyCo definitely have a double standard.
Can you imagine what pious W would have had to say about "restoring honor and dignity to the White House" if Clinton or Gore had told Ken Starr or Newt to fuck off?
Speculation aside, I think Cheney's recent outburst exposes the anxiety the White House must be feeling about their re-election prospects. As I noted on my blog, W is also resorting to dirty tricks and undignified behavior having released a video featuring Gore, Dean, Michael Moore, Kerry, and Adolph Hitler.
The wheels are coming off the bus... finally.

And you, Gordon, are an idiot.
The Bush ad in question refers to Moore, Gore, Dean, et al, comparing Bush to Hitler.
Here's what Josh Chafetz has to say on it:
"It's a series of clips of Al Gore, Howard Dean, Richard Gephardt, and John Kerry making totally over-the-top denunciations of Bush. Interspersed are clips from MoveOn.Org ads comparing Bush to Hitler. The ad ends with, "This is not a time for pessimism and rage. It's a time for optimism, steadly leadership, and progress. President Bush."
In other words, Bush is criticizing his opponents for, among other things, comparing him to Hitler. In response, the Kerry Campaign sends out this incredibly dishonest email (Ed: and this group has some hillarious outrage over the non-issue) suggesting that Bush has compared his opponents to Hitler and asking for money.
Both campaigns have their share of over-the-top supporters, and I don't think it's really fair to tar Kerry with Michael Moore and MoveOn.Org. That said, it's really unfair of the Kerry Campaign to suggest that Bush is comparing Kerry supporters to Hitler, when in fact all he's doing is pointing out that Kerry supporters have compared him to Hitler.
I'm not sure whether this is malice or incompetence on the part of the Kerry Campaign -- and I suspect the answer is incompetence -- but it doesn't bode well for them either way."

It is unfortunte that worthy leadership has not taken its righful place in the Republican Party. Our Senate chambers should be dignified and civil.
