A Ghost Is Born

If you are Wilco fan like me, you can listen to their new album, A Ghost Is Born, in Quicktime on their site.

I liked what i heard, but unfortunately, I had a hard time getting the Quicktime to work right.

Thanks for the tip! Wilco is a favorite of mine, too.

Coincidentally, as I read your post I was listening to Wilco's rocking version of "One Hundred Years From Now" on the great Gram Parsons tribute CD put together by Emmylou Harris and friends a couple years ago.

Another band you've talked about here is Fountains of Wayne. Listen to their "Hung up on You" on Welcome Interstate Managers and you can thank Gram for that tribute, too.

I recently introduced my 16-year-old daughter to Gram Parsons via his solo efforts (G.P., Grievous Angel)as well as the great work he did with the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Byrds. She immediately picked out references to Gram in several of her current favorites, including FOW, Elvis Costello, Keith Urban, and the Rolling Stones.

That variety of pop, rock and country performers influenced by the grandfather of Cosmic American Music alone makes his work worth a re-visit for any music fan. If you're new to GP, pick up the aforementioned tribute disk - "Return of the Grievous Angel" - for a great taste of Gram through the interpretations of Emmylou, Beck, Sheryl Crow, Whiskeytown, Elvis Costello, Cowboy Junkies, the Mavericks, Evan Dando, and others.

I'm having trouble with QT too - what was your fix?
Thanks,
Kevin
